Dr. Chatterjee has played a pivotal role in formulating and releasing CSR guidelines for Public Sector Enterprises and in formulating section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013. Currently, he serves as the CEO of the Anil Agarwal Foundation (Vedanta Group). In this capacity, he oversees and coordinates the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives carried out by the group.

Additionally, Dr. Chatterjee as a member of the United Nations Global Compact Governing Council, has actively participated in major national and international initiatives focusing on sustainability, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues. Currently he is the chairman of the National Committee on ESG for the formulation of the National ESG standards.

With an extensive background in the coal, steel, and mining sector, Dr. Chatterjee has acquired a wealth of experience. He has previously served as the Secretary General of the Indian Steel Association and held the position of Principal Secretary in the Government of Odisha, Steel, Mines, and Coals.
